Working together When not used during the game's story, the Velvet Room operates as Recursions method for rewards and bonuses.
Much like in the original video games, both of the two Velvets, Mary and William offer some bonuses and services in exchange for characters given them what they want. Some requests are available only for a month's time (or less), while others listed below have no set date, and characters are free to peruse them to reap the benefits. Some are challenges, while others require players to fulfill certain requirements. There is currently no limits to how many a character can preform during a single month! The two Velvets are ready to employ you both to improve this place and improve the world around you. Is your character up to the task? Keep fufilling the Velvet requests and they may be able to help you with even more... QUESTIONS
PERMANENT REQUESTS
SHEEP STICKERS - VELVET ROOM
“We have created sheep stickers, but my arm may be lacking. Please bring me back a picture of a sheep so that I may ascertain if these stickers are accurate...it may take many for me to finally draw them correctly...”
MISSION
- Take a picture of a sheep for the Velvet Room
DANGERS
- Sheep don't like their pictures taken in Eddan...most will try to attack the character and knock the phone out of their hands. This may require others to help out...
BONUS
A character may also purchase items that have sheep on them, such as art books, videos, mugs, etc. As long as their is a sheep on it.
REWARD
- Your character gets a sheet of 6 sheep stickers as drawn by William. Place these on any item to be able to bring them with you to the Velvet room or your Dreams. These stickers can be used on anything, and always stick.
HOW TO CLAIM
- Create a log or a thread where your character tries to take a photo of a sheep or buys a sheep-related item.
- Link to this thread as a reply and wait for mod/helper approval
COWORKERS SOCIALIZING - ADDITIONAL CR
““It is important to socialize with your coworkers. Please speak to two of them at length that you have not had a long conversation with previously.”
MISSION
- Speak with two characters that your character previously did not have interactions with. This includes new players as well.
REWARD
- Your character's 'gun' weapon can now shoots bullets based on your character's elemental affinity.
- This counts as a small elemental spell type
- If your character has two, they can switch between both
- If your character has just physical, the bullets become larger and shoot twice as fast
HOW TO CLAIM
- Link to two threads where character interact with others for a minimum of 6 comments on your part. Each thread must be with another user (you can't link to two threads with the same user!)
- Wait for mod/helper approval to claim your prize
YOUR CHAIR - VELVET ROOM
“As you saw last time you were here, our meeting room does not have enough comfortable chairs. Please bring chairs you feel are more comfortable.”
MISSION
- Bring a chair to the Velvet Room. Comfortable depends on each user - some might go for comfortable, others might bring something more colorful or funny. Keep in mind that this will become your character's Velvet Room chair.
REWARD
- Your character can bring their old work chair from the Velvet Room home
- Your character will be able to get a small (held in their hand) trinket from their original home. This item cannot be electronic and must have sentimental value to the character.
HOW TO CLAIM
- Create a log or a thread where your character shops for a chair or mentions bringing a chair to the velvet room.
- Link to this thread as a reply and wait for mod/helper approval
TEMPORARY REQUESTS
COFFEE MACHINE - TIME LIMIT - OCTOBER 30TH 2017
“As you can see, we lack electronics for the area where coffee is served. Every company, I am told, requires a thing known as a ‘caffeine machine’. Ours is broken. Could you acquire one of these items for us or fix this one?”
MISSION
Do one of the following:
- Fix the coffee machine in the Velvet Room (bring it home and try to repair it...or try! Maybe get a few others involved?)
- Change the coffee machine (buy a new one outright and bring it to the Velvet Room)
NOTES
- There are no limits how many coffee machines may end up in the Velvet Room. Description to the Velvet Room will be modified accordingly.
REWARD
- Character can update one of their passive skills to their next level
HOW TO CLAIM
- Either have your character shop for a coffee machine in a log or take back the broken one and try to repair it
- Minimum 5 comments from your character regarding this (or a log is acceptable as well)
- Link to this thread as a reply and wait for mod/helper approval
NYAN FEVER - TIME LIMIT - OCTOBER 30TH 2017
“I wish to see the being known as ‘cat’. Master Igor wishes our organization to have what is known as a ‘mascot’, and I am told that cats are quite adorable! Please provide five pictures of different examples of this being so that I may study it.”
MISSION
- Take pictures of cats. Share them with the network and the Velvet Room
BONUS
- Wrangle a cat through the VR door during the next Velvet Room log (they will instantly want to leave)
- Put someone in a cat costume who really doesn’t want to be in one and bring them to the Velvet Room
- Take a picture of the cats while wearing a cat costume
REWARD
- A catnip pouch
- Life Stone (restores a user's energy instantly during a log)
- 10,000 macca (if someone is in a cat costume)
- Antidote (cures poison status instantly) - if the person attempted to bring a cat to the Velvet Room
HOW TO CLAIM
- Link to a post of your character's cat photos or a log where they take pictures
- Link to their thread in the Velvet Room log (when it gets posted) where your character brings in a cat, or shows up in a cat costume
- Wait for mod/helper approval to claim your prize
