Character: Jugglus Juggler
Age: Something like 4000. Looks about 30.
Canon: Ultraman Orb
Canon Point: After Episode 20

History:
http://ultra.wikia.com/wiki/Jugglus_Juggler

Personality:

When Juggler was young, he wanted to be a hero. He and his friend Gai climbed their way up to the top of Warrior's Peak, where they would consult the Light and one of them would be chosen to be a Warrior of Light. Both thought it would be Juggler, but it wasn't. Gai became Ultraman Orb, and Juggler was left to deal with a massive blow to his self-worth. Rejected from his goal and forsaken by the light, he ultimately took the opposite road and became a villain, and Gai's lifelong nemesis.

If you asked him, Juggler would be the first to tell you, proudly, that he lives and thrives in darkness. He revels in destruction, and generally enjoys making people uncomfortable. He'd be happy to pull just about anyone down with him, pointing out all the ways they're worse than their own self-perceptions. He loves drama; he'll exaggerate movements for the added flair, wax poetic about negativity, and do things like appear directly behind someone and speak into their ear just for the element of surprise. Life is a stage, Juggler is the star player, and he would claim that there isn't any further meaning to existence, except for possibly proving that he's actually stronger than Gai once and for all. But as much as he's spent many, many years convincing himself and everyone else of these notions, they're still pretty far from his actual reality.

In truth, he's insecure. He's been disappointed in himself since the Light rejected him, and fell increasingly to his nihilistic philosophies over time because Gai, formerly his friend, didn't see how he was suffering and failed to offer him the support he needed. He fell back on finding any way possible to be strong, no matter how destructive or detested. When it comes down to it, he wants to be acknowledged—by Gai, by the Light, by anyone who can sufficiently prove to him that being rejected as the Warrior of Light doesn't equate to being a complete and utter failure. He built up his dark powers to fight against Gai, because he thought that if he could at least get Gai to say, honestly, that he was the stronger of them, it would mean he was worth something.

Even though he tries to deny it, he also can't negate the good part of himself that wanted to be a hero all those years ago. If actions speak louder than words, and one is paying close attention, it quickly becomes clear that he isn't nearly as evil as he'd claim. He continually says he wants Gai dead, but he never makes a serious attempt on his life, despite ample opportunity. He intentionally makes Naomi, the series's leading female, uncomfortable by invading her personal space and putting on a flirtatious act, but always does so in a way that's actually pretty harmless. He does have the capacity for murder, but the only people we ever see him kill are invading aliens who could arguably be considered more evil than he is.

To cap it off, he saves people from danger despite himself. In a noteworthy incident prior to the main series, he engineered a fight between Ultraman Orb and a giant monster that resulted in a huge explosion (set up as an exact mirror to the Tunguska event, though they don't actually name it that), but wound up rescuing Gai's girlfriend at the time from the blast, even going out of his way to heal her. He never told Gai, letting him come to his own wrong conclusion that she'd died in the explosion, but that was motivated by his own confusion and shame over it conflicting with his own dark self-image. (Letting Gai suffer over it for the next 100 years was an unintended bonus, and by the time the series rolls around, he makes a lot of subtle hints that Natasha didn't actually die, seeming to enjoy watching Gai fail to connect the dots.) Toward the end of the series, he does something similar with Naomi, protecting her from danger even when he'd been threatening to kill her moments before.

It's when Gai witnesses that that their issues finally start to resolve; Gai sees that Juggler still has it in him to do good deeds, and Juggler can no longer pretend that isn't the case. It leads to the acknowledgment that Juggler has so desperately wanted from Gai for so long, and while Juggler spends a moment being intensely emotionally confused about what he even wants anymore, it's actually enough that he doesn't need to pretend to be the villain anymore, and he decides to fight alongside Gai to defeat the final monster of the series. The canon point I'm taking him from is before this, but the note is important; after everything that had transpired between them over thousands of years, all he actually needed in order to change his viewpoint was a hug and a thank you.

The sequel movie shows what he's like once he's free of that desperation for acceptance. Still dramatic, still likes to make people uncomfortable, still inclined to make people wonder whether he might still actually be a bad guy—but ultimately willing to step in and fight along with the heros without any prompting whatsoever, and to destroy something that was once a source of power for him to keep it from falling into the wrong hands (even if he literally tells this device that he loves it first. No, seriously.). Once he has people he might legitimately consider friends, all of his interactions become much more playful, rather than malicious.

Though in a certain sense, Juggler has always been playful. It seems like fun and entertainment are his primary drives when a situation doesn't immediately involve Gai or monster summoning. He seems to enjoy flirting in general; he makes a particular point of making Naomi uncomfortable with it once he knows Gai is attached to her, but he was flirting with her a bit even before that. And he's actually completely shameless, overhearing some of the other characters being curious about Gai's alien body in the public bath and responding by showing off his own naked alien body instead as he dramatically exits the bathhouse. Aside from that, he likes games, and has been seen using his monster cards (primarily a source of power for him) to play poker and to give someone a tarot reading, which he may or may not have been just making up on the spot. Sometimes he'll be found cheerfully whistling as he swaggers through some of his confident moments. Though ironically, if he hears Gai playing the same melody on his harmonica, he reacts badly to it. It's never stated exactly why, but the versions are a little different, and it's very possible he hears Gai's version as being very out of tune; just one more way that Gai messes things up, really.

World (OC Only):

Personality:
Before the games begin, Aqua is a student of Master Eraqus, alongside her best friends, Terra and Ventus. The trials of this friendship shape her personality over the course of a decade, forcing her to face the places in-between the dualities of dark and light, doubt and faith.

The first impression someone may get when meeting her is of a serious young woman with a strong sense of duty, belief in the power of light over darkness, and an unwavering faith in and devotion to her friends. This belief comes from many years of study under Eraqus and taking his lessons to heart. She retains her knowledge of these lessons, finding a way to relate them to her friends—for example, she hears the legend of the star-shaped paopu fruit and how sharing the fruit creates an "unbreakable connection" between people, and to symbolize it, the people native to that world would make Wayfinders from seashells—good luck charms shaped like stars to help lead them home. However, since she didn't have shells, she used a bit of ingenuity and magic to create Wayfinders for herself, Terra, and Ven. They were meant to be good luck for her and Terra's exams, but she ensured that Ven would also have one, so that even if they both had to leave him behind as Masters, he would know that he'd always share an important role in their hearts. This small bit of creativity shows a resilient mind, while her attention to Ven proves her caring heart.

However, Aqua herself would disagree with this first impression, as she suffers from serious self-doubts. While she's sympathetic and compassionate, she is weighed down by the pressure of her duties as the youngest Keyblade Master in years, and how this role has come between her and her friends. She may speak up for Terra against those who doubt his resilience, but she can't always say the same to him, inadvertently sounding accusatory when she tries to tell him that she's worried about him. She feels that it isn't just her rise as a Master that's created a divide between them, but her having a Keyblade at all. When she meets Riku and Sora, recognizing that Terra passed his power on to Riku, she decides that she can't drive the same wedge between the boys; instead of choosing Sora as a second wielder, she tasks him with watching over Riku and protecting him from becoming lost in the darkness.

She begins her journey believing in herself and her inner light being strong enough to triumph against the darkness, but as she struggles against the machinations of Xehanort and Vanitas, as well as her long time in the realm of darkness, her faith in herself is worn down. She is tormented by phantoms that voice her insecurities—that the darkness has made its way into her weakened heart, that she subconsciously wants her own destruction, that she was never really brave, and that now, even that false courage is gone.

However, over time, what comes to save her is her friendship. She realizes her mistakes with Terra and learns to let him explain himself, while also ensuring he knows that she still believes in him. She promises to be there for the sleeping Ven to guide his heart back to the realm of light. This trust in her friends leads her to some blind spots—she's not careful enough to heed Terra's warnings that he can't stop Xehanort's influence over him, and she passes along information that may lead Xehanort to Ven; she refuses to kill Ven when he warns it will prevent him from fusing with Vanitas and creating the dangerous χ-blade. Btu her bonds with them give her the power to overcome anything—whether it's destroying the χ-blade or following illusions of them through the dark realm past various Heartless, or their Keyblades arriving to save her before she can give up. This does, unfortunately, lead her to become overly self-sacrificial and too concerned with protecting them to defend herself in battle. She, in turn, frequently needs another friend to save her before she really can sacrifice herself—something she doesn't quite realize.

Ultimately, her devotion to others and protecting the light makes her prone to try to sacrifice herself for them, while the darkness and her past failures cause her to constantly doubt herself and threaten to let her slip into depression. However, her hope becomes embodied in other people—Terra, Ven, Mickey, Riku, Sora—giving her a reason to fight and the strength to continue. This hope re-emboldens her not just to fight the darkness, but to be the light that guides anyone else who finds themselves there too.

IC Information
Character: Gohan Son
Age: 18
Canon: Dragon Ball Z
Canon Point: Episode 287, after everyone reunites on the Lookout

History: Gohan's biography in the Dragon Ball wiki.

Personality: All in all, Gohan is as a pacifist. Despite having been forced into his father's world of fighting at an extremely young age, he has a noticeable opposition toward the idea of fighting with the intent to kill. This is shown throughout his fight with Cell, in which Gohan kept trying to give Cell the chance to walk away. Something that most likely stemmed from his belief that life should be cherished and protected, which also makes him rather unusual considering his saiyan heritage.

Nonetheless, after spending the majority of his life fighting powerful threats, his pacifistic views have conformed to the idea that not all individuals want to protect life like he does. He will fight if he has to, even end fights if it's in his power to do so. But he will show special interest in protecting his family and friends, rather that actually testing his limits and/or defeating his opponent. This is part of what sets him apart from all the other fighters he knows; his pure and utter selflessness when fighting.

While his family and friends fight to protect people as well, some of them also have their own personal reasons for fighting. Goku (his father) wants to become stronger every day to fight tougher opponents. Vegeta (his father's rival) wants to become stronger than Goku and defeat him one day. Piccolo (his mentor) wants to make up for the sins of his evil father by helping defend the planet. But Gohan has no true personal reason to fight, aside from the responsibility he feels to use his power for good. He was simply born with a great power, trained to use it well, and thrust right into the conflict out of necessity.

And once the conflict was done, he dedicated himself to protecting people, to stopping crimes. To becoming a hero.

Still, that's not how he views himself. While his heroic nature is practically ingrained into him at this point, and he does acknowledge that he can be viewed as a hero, Gohan also carries a guilty conscience with him. This is mostly due to the fact that he remembers the things he did wrong in his life more than he remembers the things he did right. So rather than celebrate the fact that he single-handedly defeated Cell and saved the entire planet, he'll lament the fact that he led his father to his death during the conflict with Cell. It's these mistakes that Gohan carries with him, burdening him, and making him feel even more like a failure when he makes more mistakes.

However, these feelings of inadequacy also tie in to one of Gohan's strongest emotions when pushed into a corner, and the source of his hidden power; his anger.

This is the only aspect of his personality that contrasts with his pure and gentle heart. And when unleashed, it turns Gohan into a veritable nightmare. As a saiyan, Gohan has an unnatural reserve of power that can only be tapped into when his emotions run high. However, it's his anger seems to provide the strongest bursts of power. That anger has been known to blind him when he's under emotional stress, to the point where his personality becomes twisted. His selfless and amicable nature becomes hateful and impulsive, and on some occasions, controlling and sadistic. This is shown when Cell pushes Gohan into the Super Saiyan 2 transformation through psychological torture, and we see for the first time how terrifying Gohan can truly be. Despite having the power to finish Cell off with ease, Gohan used his power to control the fight, and torture Cell back, drawing out the battle only to watch his opponent suffer under his awesome power. The best words to describe Gohan in this state of mind are cold and unforgiving.

Nonetheless, even despite the levels of anger he exhibits in this state of mind, his driving force remains unchanged. Even with how twisted he becomes, his anger still stems from his desire to protect people. In the fight with Cell, the only way Cell was able to push Gohan into this kind of corner was to threaten and torture his family and friends, and pick at his inability to help them. So not only was Cell picking away at his insecurities and inadequacy, but he was doing the one thing that Gohan could not stand under any circumstances; putting the people he cares about in danger. In a way, Gohan's anger can be considered both his greatest strength and his most crippling weakness. It gives him incredible power, but it also completely blinds him and makes him lose all reason.

The battlefield isn't the only place he excels at though. When not fighting, Gohan is an incredibly studious individual, having a college level education before even becoming a teenager. He was tutored from a young age, his mother making sure that he had the best teachers. And as such, he's incredibly book smart, able to tackle any academic subject without the slightest difficulty. However, despite his incredible book smart, he can be relatively clueless about society as a whole. He may have defended the planet multiple times, and have the level of education required to have a career in pretty much whatever he wanted, but nonetheless, he can sometimes struggle when it comes to being a regular member of society. Gohan is immensely awkward and never quite sure what to say half the time, usually falling back on his manners that his mother drilled into him. Nonetheless, he's still dedicated to studying as much as he can, despite already being overqualified for any academic profession on the planet.

All things considered, Gohan is a kind and caring individual, if sometimes naïve and dense. He's well-mannered, quick to learn, and can be easily intimidated by authoritative women. Like all saiyans though, fighting is in his blood. The only difference is that his interests lie in protecting his loved ones, rather than simply looking for a challenge. He's pure gold, second only to his dad.

Etc: Gohan @ TVTropes, because I can.

It terrified him to the core, the sight of the creature. To the point where he practically froze in place, unable to register the real danger he was in. It couldn't be real, it had to be some kind of hallucination. Monsters weren't real. This wasn't real. So it stood to reason that this was some kind of nightmare, right?

Yeah, that had to be it. A nightmare.

And yet... that revelation didn't feel right. His breathing picking up, as his body recognized what his mind refused to acknowledge. He was in danger-- real danger-- and he needed to be moving. But where he should've been screaming as he bolted in the opposite direction... his body instead tensed up, and dropped into what felt like a familiar position. A... stance. A combat stance.

Oh god.

Oh god, he was going to fight it.

Why?!

This was going to end in tragedy. He was going to die, mauled to death by some horrible monster, and it was gonna be completely his fault. There was no way to beat it, no way to win. He didn't even know the first thing about fighting, so how in the world would this work out in his favor?

Why was he even out here? How was this fair? He was a good person, he went to school, he did his homework. So why was he being drawn out here like this? What did he do to deserve this? Why was he going to die like this?!

How was this fair?!

"... I don't want to die..." He murmured to himself, breathlessly. His expression completely betraying his fear, even as something else formed in his gaze, something more... raw. He grit his teeth, his fists clenching so tight that his hands hurt. The muscular teenager settling even further into his combat stance, muscle memory taking over where conscious thought was failing.

He would win. He wouldn't let a monster loose. He wouldn't let it kill someone else.

He just didn't know how.

And yet, somehow, he did.

He'd fight it.

He'd beat it.

Like he had multiple other opponents.

Except he'd never fought anyone in his whole life.

But he had, multiple times.

Hidden in corners, watching his friends die, blaming himself, training.

But he didn't remember any of that.

He'd never done any of that.

He was just a normal kid!

NO.

He was the son of Goku.

And he would NOT.

LET.

THIS THING.

WIN.

He screamed, his expression looking like that of a wild beast. The teenager gritting his teeth, as his fingers dug into his chest, almost on instinct. He wasn't all there, but he was certainly confident in his actions. His fingers digging deeper, gripping, taking hold of something... before pulling on it hard.

And causing him to let out the most agony-filled scream he'd ever heard in his entire life.

History:
Videl's biography @ the Dragon Ball Wikia

World (OC Only):
N/A

Personality:
Videl is a woman of intense emotions, both good and bad. She usually comes on forcefully when making first impressions and unintentionally intimidates people with her tendency to be direct and to-the-point during conversation. She grows impatient quickly, especially when people get nervous around her or dodge her questions, but becomes defensive when she is the one under scrutiny. Anyone who sticks around Videl long enough to get past her prickly exterior will see a wider (and significantly gentler) gamut of emotions. Her abrasiveness is tempered by her selflessness and tremendous capacity to care for the well-being of other people. However, Videl does not trust easily and is slow to open up to people, so the softer aspects of her personality often go unnoticed. Although she is not easily embarrassed, a sincere and unexpected compliment is sure to make Videl blush. Unlike her father, Videl accepts praise with humility and does not outright expect it. She is comfortable having a lot of attention and press around her, but does not let it go to her head.

Videl is usually blunt and brutally honest, rarely bothering to hide her feelings or opinions when she talks to people. She can be insistent, pushy, and demanding when something or someone catches her attention. She has an opinion on just about everything and is biased to her own way of thinking, making her appear close-minded and unapproachable. Videl is stubbornly set in her ways, firm in her beliefs, and largely uninterested in changing either of them. She speaks her mind with little regard to how offensive her words might be and lacks anything in the way of tact. Despite how she seems, Videl does not intend to upset people with her forthrightness; she sometimes does not realize how harsh her words sound until they upset someone.

Videl puts all of her strength and passion to use by acting as a "Champion of Justice" for the people of her home, Satan City. She is guided by a rigid sense of justice and clearly defined ideas of right and wrong. Typically, she follows the law because it is the law, but deviates from time to time when it conflicts with her moral compass. Above all else, Videl does what she believes is right, no matter how unlawful or unpopular it may be. She feels that it is her responsibility to face down bad guys because she is stronger than ordinary people, both physically and mentally. She will throw herself into a righteous fight if she thinks she stands a chance (and even when she doesn't think that far ahead). Videl hates to feel like a victim and takes a proactive role in shaping her own fate. She is aggressively optimistic in her drive to make the world a better place, believing that any bad situation can be turned around if she works hard enough. Her stubbornness helps her face adversity and maintain a fighting spirit.

Videl is driven to succeed and holds herself to unreasonably high standards, which stem from her identity as the daughter of an esteemed fighter who is recognized (incorrectly) as the savior of Earth. For much of her life, Videl was introduced to people not by name, but as "the daughter of Mr. Satan," so her parentage is closely tied to her sense of self. Contrary to expectation she embraces this label and structures her entire identity around it, using her pedigree to justify her unwavering confidence in her strength and potential. Even though Videl has become a strong fighter in her own right, it is as much her parentage as her pride that blinds her to the possibility of failure. She has high expectations of herself and will not settle for anything less than her best effort, rigorously pushing herself to meet impossible standards. Once she has a goal in mind, Videl keeps trying to reach it no matter how many times she fails--a stubbornness that once nearly lead to her death.

Inquisitive by nature, Videl feels like she needs to know about everything going on around her, no matter how minute the detail. She hates to be told "you don't need to know" or "it's none of her business." Keeping a secret from Videl is a sure-fire way to get her digging into your business and she is not above stalking people who arouse her suspicions. Videl is observant, perceptive, and attentive of details. She is always keeping an eye out for things that seems against the norm and grows suspicious easily. Videl is a skeptic who needs to see concrete proof in order to believe in certain things. She looks down upon superstition because she believes that everything can be proven---if it can't be proven, you haven't tried hard enough yet. Since meeting Gohan, Videl has been forced to realize that there are some exceptions to this rule, but she refuses to accept oddities easily. Her inquisitive nature is not limited by skepticism; when a subject catches her interest, Videl will pursue it with the full force of her personality.

I have this communication network post and reply threads from a previous RP that Videl was in. I feel like it's a decent expression of her voice, but, as the result of two canon updates, it's a little weird. I can provide a fresh sample if this isn't suitable.

Personality:
Once upon a time, many centuries ago, a young man climbed to the peak of a mountain. He was brave and strong, a brilliant and cunning warrior who would obviously impress the light and prove himself worthy to wield its amazing power.

He failed. And this is not his story.

Gai Kurenai was the one chosen by the light to become Ultraman Orb, and even he didn't seem to understand why. Sure, he was strong, but not as strong. He was brave, but to the point of being foolhardy. He wasn't the most emotionally available, or the most intelligent, but there was still something that the light saw in him that was worthy. A dream—to create a world where no one had to be sacrificed in battle.

It has been four thousand years, and Gai has all but given up on that dream.

Gai has been around the universe (more than one of them, in fact) for a while, and his battles have worn him down somewhat. About the only things he can get passionate about are music, food, and bathhouse etiquette—not necessarily in that order. In fact, in terms of etiquette, he's kind of a stickler for protocol—his old friend, now enemy, Juggler, is about the only person he doesn't use honorifics for, to the point that he even refers to other Ultramen as "Mr." This may have begun from the starry-eyed idealism of the young man who first became Orb and sought to prove himself before his predecessors, but now it seems to be a way to help keep himself from getting too close to people. Humans have much shorter lives than he does, after all, and especially after the presumed loss of his girlfriend, Natasha, he's struggled to form attachments to people. He cares deeply for all living beings and will do whatever he can to save them. But he will save them, and then leave, like the hero from an old Western.

There is darkness inside him, and this is something that he has struggled to accept, considering that Ultramen are made of light, and it's a sacred concept in the series' mythos. He is not good at controlling his power, and when his battle in Rusalka in 1908 leveled the forest (implied to be the Tunguska Event in an AU Russia), he sealed away his holy sword and his true power. When he failed to find Natasha, instead finding the harmonica he'd entrusted with her, he broke down completely. That failure was his greatest weakness, making it harder for him to connect with others, be they human or fellow aliens. Upon learning that Natasha had indeed survived and had descendents, one of whom was Naomi, who he always found himself saving, it gave him hope again, allowing him to overcome his personal darkness and once again awaken his true form of Orb Origin.

In terms of meeting emotional needs...he's lacking, and this is his greatest flaw. Naomi is obviously in love with him, but he tries to keep her at a distance to some degree, relying on that old cowboy cliché of being a lone star out in the galaxy, even if he will always come back for her. When he hurts her, he runs away. But his biggest failure is Juggler, who desperately needed validation after the light rejected him, and he failed to see that simply keeping him as a partner wasn't cutting it—not when Juggler got to see how powerful he continued to grow, inadvertently rubbing the failure in his face. When Juggler fell to darkness following the death of his would-be student, Gai recognized that he needed time to himself to grieve, but he failed to offer emotional support otherwise. The constant failure to meet Juggler's emotional needs led to a greater rift between them, with Juggler needing Gai to acknowledge that his way, the dark path, was right, when it went against everything Gai believed in. In the end, Gai told him that love, not darkness, was eternal, and upon learning that Juggler saved Natasha that fateful day, he...punched him. He hugged him afterward, but it says a lot that his first reaction was to hit him. He really doesn't know where Juggler stands with him anymore—Juggler will say that he'll kill him, but then he'll stand by Gai and protect the people he cares about. Gai kind of just rolls with it, but he genuinely doesn't know what to think of him anymore. He wants him to have changed for the better, wants to know that he can trust him not to hurt Naomi or anyone else. But he also keeps his guard up around him, knowing better than to just trust him to be the old Juggler who always had his back.

Gai is fairly unflappable. Again, having lived as long as he has and having seen as much as he has makes him pretty chill about nearly everything. He's pretty laidback and even comes off as lazy, often sleeping at the SSP office and ignoring most of the insanity around him. But he's also got very low tolerance for them stupidly putting themselves in danger, and he will say as such, without regard for their feelings on the matter. At the same time, however, he's still a hot-blooded shounen action hero, and if you piss him off—typically by being really evil, or in the middle of a battle, or if you fail to show proper bathing etiquette—he will be very loud and scream most of his lines. Although, he can behave like this if he's sufficiently excited about something, such as being taught how to cook yakisoba.

Overall though, he doesn't really have a reason to keep doing what he does other than it's the right thing to do. Some small part of his idealism hasn't died out completely, keeping that light inside him shining, and the fact that he didn't completely fail, that Naomi and the others exist as proof that he has succeeded in protecting someone and ensuring that they weren't sacrificed gives him hope he hasn't had in millennia. It makes his duty as an Ultraman easier to handle, while also giving him something to come back to as he explores the galaxy out of his own curiosity and sense of adventure, rather than just fighting.

Etc: As implied above, Gai isn't actually human, but a humanoid alien, presumably from Planet O-50 or a moon. On top of it, he carries the power of Ultraman Orb, a giant being of light, and that power seems to give him (as well as other Ultras) a large appetite. He's pretty durable, either from his alien body or because of his Ultraman powers, he's more durable than humans, able to survive extreme heat and cold (cold being strictly him—Ultras are normally incapacitated by cold temperatures, while he's comfortable in the back of a freezer truck for 5 hours) and be thrown into the side of a building without major injury. His augmented strength, speed, and teleportation would be inaccessible, but he has some sort of natural sixth sense for people who are in danger, as well as excellent reflexes and fighting abilities from years of training alongside Juggler. He also worked as a rescue worker or paramedic of some kind, and he is skilled in CPR and first aid, as well as other search and rescue skills.
