"Don't get me wrong, Eddan's a pretty sweet place to live! There's just that...pesky nightly issue..."
Eddan. ![]() It is a city where dreams are made and knowledge is actively pursued. The world's elite travel there for the chance of hitting it big and achieving celebrity, but even Eddan's less well-off citizens walk in the same streets and go to the same cafes as the rich and famous...or so they say. The city's mysteries await to be discovered, and answers may not come as quickly as some may like. ![]() The architecture of Eddan is a mixture of buildings, from old brownstones to wooden farmhouses to modernized, green-space buildings to skyscrapers that tower over the entire city and light up the night like a second moon. The streets range from old cobblestones to cutting edge new pavement technology that uses nanomaterials to increase safety and reduce pollution and every last inch of them are kept pristine and free of litter by street-cleaning robots. ![]() In nearly everything, Eddan has embraced both new and old - the newer buildings are built with unique angles and curves that would make an Awakened think art nouveau style blending with a sci-fi aesthetic. It also puts a great amount of consideration into greenery. ![]() Green space is important, with trees and flowers are planted in all public spaces and in most municipal buildings. Neighborhoods are encouraged to do the same, with the city giving considerable tax breaks based on the amount they own and have planted. The result, along with electrical cars, windmills, solar powered lights and automatic buses, is a city is that is self-sufficient with clean energy. ▲ TOP ![]() Health Care is publicly funded and administered within guidelines set by the government. This includes hospital, dentist and ophthalmologist visits. Some work places offer additional coverage like massages, paying for glasses, and other things that aren't basic needs provided by the city. ▲ TOP Eddan operates with Macca, a currency that all citizens assume is perfectly normal before Awakening. While most do their shopping using their City or Bank cards, there are a few notes (200, 500, 1000, 5000, 10000) that are made mostly with very thin plastic and a number of security features. To give players an idea, currency is the equivalent of 100 Macca = 1 Euro/Dollar. A few example of prices: ▶ Burger: 500 Macca ($5) ▶ Milk: 600 Macca ($6) ▶ A Fancy Dinner: 2,000 Macca ($20) ▶ An Apartment: 60,000 Macca per month ($600 per month) ▶ An Electric Car: 2,000,000 Macca ($20,000) ▶ A House: 25,000,000 Macca ($250,000) The average salary of a worker in Eddan is about 5,000,000 Macca per year ($50,000). ▲ TOP ![]() Citizens have multiple methods of transport in Eddan. The main commuter networks are the self-driving buses and the underground subway system that spans most parts of the city. Cars are by far electrical - there are few gas-powered cars to be found, due to increased costs due to clean city initiatives. Bicycle racks and rental services are available for those who wish to exercise. The solar-powered two seat bicycles are a very popular rental during the holidays for couples in love. ![]() The subway system is simply named "Eddan Subway" or "Eddan Underground". Each of the seven lines corresponds with one of the colors of the rainbow. Matching train and bus lines above cover territory the underground system cannot provide access to. The city also has a network of underground shopping districts that are used by foot traffic, and their usage has increased dramatically after the murders began for safety, despite earlier closing hours. In fact, most places close before sunset, regardless of location, and public transportation runs with less frequency. There is a hobbyist airplane and hang glider airport for flying lessons, however it does not have permission to allow pilots to exit the city. The commercial airport, found near the northeastern part of the city, and located a small drive from Richmond, takes care of arrivals and departures. However, an Awakened would quickly notice that most flights outside are canceled, and those that aren't never seem to have seats available. ▲ TOP Districts
Bornhornd: "College District" where many of the other schools are located. Mostly trade schools and more affordable college type institutes, with a few public schools for elementary into high school. As well as the many businesses and residential places needed for these young adults to learn their trades and become independent.
Centruim: "Artist Hub" the district where many aspiring artists flock to, many art galleries and studios are crammed into this. As a result it's considered a hipster magnet as well. Eastmount: "City within a City" due to it being near Green Valley and the airport it caters to the wide and varied needs of such. Making it a bit like a Little Italy or Chinatown district in a lot of ways. Hagu: "Night Life" bars, clubs, 'game corners', that red light district most pretend doesn't exist but does, and everything one expects from an area meant for adults even with curfew a lot of the night time activities still happen as well. Kaupangen: "Downtown" The large skyscrapers filled with big businesses and important banks, as well as the expensive studio apartments and the subsequent gourmet delis and coffee shops catering to busy business people. Lower Marcy: "Industrial" Warehouses, and docks for shipping. As well as where most of the factories for the city are located. Considered a 'bad' part of Eddan since it's easy to use such spaces for less then lawful reasons. Upper Marcy: "Upper Middle Class" mostly apartment living but nice enough for small family living and good public schooling. Easy commute for those working in lower Marcy or Kaupangen. Monterella: "Suburbia" Cookie cutter houses and living the dream of owning your own property. Orust: "Agriculture" The main food hub for Eddan. Produce, livestock, greenhouses, and everything else needed to keep most of Eddan fed. Only one or two 'families' likely live on this island district due to most of the land being used for farming. Pointe-à-Tarte: "Central Park" the epicenter of nature parks, gardens, and trails. Also where the obscenely rich may have a sprawling mansion hidden in the trees. Quatre Saurts: "Energy Hub" Clean energy plant and some tech based factories piggybacking on being so close to the largest energy producer in the city. Richmond : "Culture Center" many conservation centers and history museums as well as the typical tourist trap shops and activities found around such places where visitors flock to. Royal Mount: "Fun Zone". The aquarium, amusement park, movie theaters, mini golf, Command Tower plaza, etc. Aka the place to go for dates, outings, or to unleash a group of hellions on the populace so you can have a day of quiet at home for once. Rusnop: "Wildlife" One part sanctuary and one part breeding ground for wild game used in some of the fancier restaurants. Hunting is strictly prohibited unless given a special license to do so. Schwestern: "Last Frontier" Like Rusnop mostly wildlife and untamed wilderness. The center of a heavy debate between those that want to develop it for human use, and conservationist that want it to be made like Rusnop. Some people may have used the confusion to stake a claim on parts of it to said conservationists' ire. Skyes: "Medical and Tree House" The large trees are preserved by building on or around them and this whimsical area also houses the top tier medical facilities that cater to the bulk of Eddan. Warwick: "Old Money" The stupidly rich through legacy and being here first. Large manors and plantation style houses. Snobbery is a way of life. ▲ TOP The Blue French Horn Cafe Type: Restaurant | Area: Eastmount Located just on the edge of Eastmount and Green Valley is a little restaurant famous for its signature blue french horn. It serves various Creole/Cajun inspired dishes like begniets, po'boys, jambalaya, red beans and rice, gumbo, etc. in a relaxed cafe atmosphere. Live music is welcome, just speak with the owner or her staff about booking. Sometimes referred to as "The Blues Cafe" by locals. Fuyu Photography Studio Type: Photo Studio | Area: Richmond, near the train station where the Blue Line merges with the Purple Line One of the older buildings and businesses in Ethan, it was founded by her father's father - aka, her grandfather, Shinjirou Fuyu - in the early 1960s. It's a well-known photography studio in the Richmond area, and Niko's parents co-own and co-run the studio business. The father focuses on more traditional photo techniques, and still uses physical photos. The mother focuses on more modern techniques, and prefers digital photos. There's still a blacklight/development room beneath the stairwell that leads up from the ground floor/studio area to the family's living quarters. Green Valley Type: School | Area: Green Valley | Link: Here The Appled Jewel of Eddan. A nightly mystery. Meditation of Wildness Type: | Area: Pointe-a-Tarte Underneath a gnarled and ancient tree is an odd little statues that at first one just thinks is another little statue of a monk resting or in meditation. The silhouette is wrong though and when you get closer you see the head is that of a dog. Odd, but not too much so. It's become a bit of a lucky symbol to people roaming the area. Recently some artistic bandit has been placing little angel wings on it, and now and again a small halo as well. National Leviathan Habitat Type: Aquarium | Area: Royal Mount | Link: Here An enormous aquarium with multiple underwater tunnels, enormous tanks, an open sea area, the What's Kracken Cafe, High Scale, and many other delights.
